One of the first banjo classes I took was at Common Ground on the Hill, from Reed Martin. I got a banjo as a present from Howard Zane when I turned 16 (I also got an Irish accordion from my parents). When Reed tuned from standard to modal I knew right away the modal tuning was what I liked. I came to his house for a lesson and he gave me this tune, which orginally was recorded by Sidna Meyers.
